| Darcy of the Dead: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. |
| Written by Jon Lyus |
This news, coming to us from the guys at Slashfilm, is epic. I love Pride and Prejudice. It is witty, subtle, fit to bursting with pithy dialogue and social whirl. What it has always lacked, in my opinion, is the undead. Being so far out of copyright it has been adapted many times, with the recent Keira Knightly abomination the most recent example. Now Seth Grahame-Smith takes the view that the militia, which features prominently and delivers many key characters, were not fighting Napoleon but hordes of undead creatures. I'd love to see this becoming a trend, remaking classics with a twist - A Christmas Invasion - Scrooge is visited by three Alien warlords dueling to decide who will be the ones to rule Earth. Scrooge wins. Crime and Punishment as a musical. Snow White and the Stepford Dwarfs, where they are robots. Do head over to Slashfilm to read the article, I cannot wait for this and I hope it gets a studio and a green light. Zombie Catherine De Bourgh is a sight I MUST see. |
