It seems like an eternity again since we first posted the trailer for Ang Lee's latest movie, Taking Woodstock. The movie stars Demetri Martin, Dan Fogler, Henry Goodman, Jonathan Groff, Imelda Staunton and Eugene Levy. Empire have been good to us today and have provided us with another new poster - click to enlarge.

Featuring a standout ensemble cast, and songs from a score of ’60s musical icons including The Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Country Joe and the Fish - plus a new recording of “Freedom” from Richie Havens - Taking Woodstock is a joyous voyage to a moment in time when everything seemed possible.

Review: The Invention of Lying
Written by Emily Breen

invention_of_lying_poster_small

The Invention of Lying is Ricky Gervais’ first foray into feature film direction. In fact as director, star, producer and co-writer, he had rather a lot on his plate for a man who remains something of a Hollywood novice. In the UK, we know and love Ricky best for his extraordinary work on The Office. He had no difficulty juggling that variety of roles for two successful series; can the transition to the big screen really be a great leap for such a man?

Ricky is tubby loser Mark Bellison, an unsuccessful and slightly repellent middle-aged man living in a world like our own in every respect but one – they have no concept of lying. Everything, everyone, may be taken exactly at face value because everyone tells the unadulterated truth right to your face. Regardless of the hurt it may cause. For a man like Mark Bellison the truth packs a punch. Mark is Lecture Films “least successful screenwriter”; an impressive feat when each film they produce is just that – pure undiluted fact, delivered by a po-faced man with a book. Any man would be hard pushed to make the 14th century sound dynamic but Mark’s plague script is a total downer. Boss Anthony has been trying to fire him for weeks, he hasn’t yet plucked up the courage to do so but honesty compels him to tell Mark his intentions. Not the greatest set up for a blind date I think you’ll agree. Anna certainly does.

Written by David Sztypuljak

Paul movie image Universal Lot - Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (1)_220Simon Pegg has temporarily broken away from Edgar Wright (before they make The World's End together - part 3 form Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) to create is own movie which he's called 'Paul'. Obviously he couldn't completely break free of his roots so has taken his good friend and comedy side-kick Nick Frost with him along for the ride!

Collider.com have been sent an image from a poster mounted onto a stage at the Universal Studios lot. The image also shows Kristen Wiig and Blythe Danner. 'Paul' is about two geeks taking a road-trip across the United States but their trip takes an odd turn when they meet up with an alien named Paul. It's out at some point in 2010.

Six of the Best - Bruce Willis
Written by Barry Steele

brucewillis1

This week, Bruce Willis stars in the sci-fi action movie Surrogates, directed by Jonathan Mostow. At one time this would have made it a marquee release, with a huge promotional push, but there's been very little hype about it. Is Willis' star fading?

To put it in perspective, if Will Smith was the star of this same movie, the posters would be on every street corner in every city. It almost seems as though the studio don't think Willis is bankable enough to warrant a big marketing budget. But Bruce Willis IS a superstar, and i'll see you on the other side to give you 6 reasons why.

Masters of the Universe Leaves Warner Bros, Arrives at Columbia
Written by Jon Lyus

MOTUmovie

Is it really 22 years since Dolph Lundgren and a rubber faced Frank Langella battled for control of the Universe?

That film never lived up to the potential of the cartoon and was something of a disappointment. Having the battles raging on Earth instead of under the Eternian sky was a mistake, as was not including Orco; the result was a derivative mess and (this may be against sacred HeyUGuys lore) I didn't really care for it.

In recent years the property has fallen into the maudlin mists of nostalgia, however this has not halted the return of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to the screen and Variety is reporting that the rights to the film adaptation have moved from Warner Bros to Columbia. Those following the saga of Justin Marks' Grayskull script may be disappointed to learn that Columbia are going back to the drawing board with the movie, jettisoning attached producer Joel Silver and Kung Fu Panda director John Stevenson.

Here's the story from AICN and previously from Variety. We'll watch in muted anticipation.

Review: Did You Ever See... Innerspace?
Written by Barry Steele

innerspace1

This week Pandorum is released in the US. Directed by Christian Alvart, it’s a sci-fi thriller about two astronauts who wake from a cryogenic sleep on a ship, with no memory of who they are or why they are there.

One of the stars of Pandorum is Dennis Quaid. Quaid’s career has been rejuvenated over the last eight or nine years, beginning in 2000 with Steven Soderbergh's Traffic, and culminating this year with the big budget GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. At 55 years old, he’s finally becoming an in demand A-list star. But it wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Quaid was supposed to take his big step up to the A-list over 20 years ago.

I’ll see you on the other side, and we’ll see that 22 years before he went to outer space in Pandorum, he was sent… Innerspace.

Twilight Descends on Lost Boys 3: The Thirst
Written by Jon Lyus

lostboys3

The Lost Boys is a HeyUGuys favourite, and one hell of a vampire film. It was a fresh take on the vampire movie after decades of Hammer domination, and made stars of Keifer Sutherland and our friends, the Two Coreys.

Given that we've been in full nostalgia overload for the past few years it came as no surprise when the Lost Boys were found once again, updated in the anaemic sequel of last year: Lost Boys 2: The Tribe.

While Corey Feldman reassumed his role as Edgar Frog there was little to enjoy here as twenty years distance had offered nothing new to the Lost Boys mythology, and the skateboarding vamps were about as scary as Mary Poppins eating a cupcake. Worst of all the hazy angst of the first film was lost in favour of a fast paced gore fest, and so much of what made the original great was absent.

Good news then that the Lost Boys train looks set to run fully off the rails this time, as plot details emerge of Lost Boys 3: The Thirst.
